So Many Leaves...
We love the big tree in our front yard...but in the fall, it becomes quite a project to rake the TONS of leaves it drops on our grass. I often will tackle raking some of the leaves in the afternoons while Jack is out front riding his bike and Miles plays in his exersaucer. Lately though, Jack has really wanted to help with the raking too. So, I decided to give him a quick tutorial in the how-to's of using the rake and let him go for it. To my surprise, he can actually rake the lawn pretty well all by himself! He spent a good 15 minutes getting most of the leaves into a big pile. I was so proud of his hard work that I told him he had earned $1.00 to put in his piggy bank for something special. He was thrilled and decided that he would buy a brand new toy AND ice cream with his buck...looks like he still has a little learning to do when it comes to money! We solved this problem by taking a trip to the dollar store a few days later where I told him that "he could pick out anything he wanted in the whole store". You should have seen his excitement. After strolling up and down many, many aisles he chose a new nerf football. Now he's begging to rake the lawn again...any time Jack!
Bishops Pumpkin Patch
Last Saturday we took the boys to Bishop's Pumpkin Farm for our annual visit to the pumpkin patch. It's fun to return to the same place each year and this is an outing we look forward to each fall. Our first stop was the train. Last year, Jack was a little unsure of the train ride, but now he climbed right up like the big-kid 3 year old that he is and had a great time! The train does a little loop along the outer edge of the pumpkin fields and Jack had fun trying to spot the BIGGEST pumpkin.

He has his own sense of style...
Yesterday morning Jack really wanted to get dressed all by himself. We have been working on this skill lately- he is really good at everything except the shirts! However, usually I choose the clothes...or at least provide some guidance. But, since yesterday was our 3rd day in a row being home with 2 sick kiddos I decided to let him choose anything he wanted to wear. I told him to get dressed and then come out to the living room to surprise me. I think you'll agree that he has a sense of style all his own.
