All You Need

When you're 3 and 5 all you need for a perfect summer day is a romp through the sprinklers, a popsicle, and your brother!

This Week

Digging in the dirt kept the boys busy for hours. They have hauled their trucks and assorted shovels and rakes out to the backyard and spend part of everyday digging, making roads, and crashing things down.

We took Evan to our favorite park so that Jack could show him how he crosses the monkey bars. They also got Daddy to push them SUPER high on the swings. They loved it.
We finished our swim lessons at the city pool. Both of the boys made a lot of progress in 2 weeks. Miles went from crying on the steps to jumping off the diving board!
Jack ready for his turn on the diving board.

Miles made his favorite breakfast (scrambled eggs). I crack the eggs and he adds a "pinch of salt" and whisks everything together all by himself.
These $1 bubbles have been a lot of fun. We haven't done bubbles for a while (maybe since last summer?) so I guess they seemed new and exciting!
Miles really got the hang of blowing the bubbles himself and was quite proud of his new skill!
The boys were really cute about shopping for Father's Day gifts and cards. Jack picked out a back scratcher for Evan to keep in his desk at work and a hot mitt for him to use when BBQing. Miles chose new work gloves for Evan to use in the yard. On Friday they wrapped everything up and we put the presents on the dining room table. Jack was then very concerned that Daddy might peek at his presents before Sunday rolled around, so he closed the doors to the dining room and posted this sign.
Jack is into Legos and built this ambulance one afternoon during quiet time.
Riding your tricycle through the puddles is the best!

Made even more fun when it really starts to pour!
We broke out the slip 'n slide yesterday and the kids loved it.
Miles needed to work on his technique a bit at first...
But, he quickly got the hang of it :)

This Week

I think the boys built a fort in the family room every day. This one included the blow up air mattress for extra support!
The boys spent most of an afternoon on the deck watching swing set assembly.
Jack used blocks to make a parking lot for his matchbox cars.
The swing set was finally complete at 8:00 PM (after 8 hours of assembly). The boys got right to swinging...in the almost dark.
Miles giving the slide a go

We needed to remove a rock border from behind the swings and Jack was very handy with the shovel
Miles helped by raking the dirt smooth (after he got over being very mad that he didn't get to use the shovel!)

We surprised the boys with a day at the Georgia Aquarium- here's Jack checking out the whale sharks.
Fearless Miles touching the baby sharks and rays

This Week

Jack worked hard on this color by number picture and was very proud of the finished product

When Miles saw me taking a picture of Jack's coloring page he demanded a picture of his as well!

The boys kept busy for an entire afternoon with the playdough breakfast maker and created a counterful of rainbow colored waffles

We use our Jenga blocks to make towers for our monster trucks to crash down...don't you?

Miles is the master of ABC Bingo

Jack wrote a book all about his favorite subject- Big Cats

We discovered these blue hydrangeas blooming in our yard. This is my favorite flower- we had them at our wedding in the flowergirl baskets and centerpieces. Evan had planted hydrangeas for Mothers Day at our old house and sadly there was no way to move them with us. So, to find new hydrangeas blooming here was extra special- I think this house was meant to be ours.
