Pismo Beach

At the end of January, my sisters and I headed to Pismo Beach for our annual girls' get-away weekend. As always, it did not disappoint. In fact, this was our 10th trip to Pismo Beach and I hope that we have at least another 50 ahead of us. A big thank you to my mom and dad for keeping the boys so that we could make it a 3 day weekend. We had such a nice time! We shopped for hours at the outlets on our way down, ordered pizza and shared a bottle of wine after checking in to the hotel, soaked in the hot tub, slept in, went out for coffee, shopped some more, saw a movie in SLO (The King's Speech- so good!), went out to lunch, took a nap, read, went out to dinner, did pedicures and had all kinds of good girl talk throughout. Sisters are simply the best...

Yes, He's 2!

This picture pretty much says it all. We have a 2 year old in the house! He's quite sure that he's a big kid and he amazes us every day with all that he's learning how to do...by himself of course. That is the 2 year old way! Here's a little update on our Miles:

* He loves to play outside- the more riding vehicles the better! He switches off every 3 minutes between the tricycle, big wheel, scooter, and plasma car. His favorite is to race down the driveway at top speed. His helmet is a must! In fact, he has 2.
* He is a great eater, although it's hard to tell from his skinny little frame. He's willing to try just about anything and out-eats his big brother at almost every meal. His favorite foods these days are bacon and scrambled eggs, cheeseburgers, grapes, clementines, and macaroni and cheese.
* He loves his books and "reads" throughout the day. His top reads are Goodnight Moon, Brown Bear, and any truck book we own (of which there are many. Too Many!)
* He has taken over Evan's iPod as his own and walks through the house playing his tunes. His favorite is "Hot Dog!" from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. The rest of the family does not love the song quite as much...but we love how much he loves it.
*He is full of love and affection, If Jack gets hurt, Miles is the first to run over and check on his brother- he then makes everything better with a hug and a kiss. He also likes to sit with Jack if big brother gets a time-out. He worries about Jack when he is sad!
* He is very, very loved!

The Next Top Chef

Jack is becoming quite the cook. His specialty is baking. Tonight after we put Miles to bed, Jack and I baked a big batch of heart shaped sugar cookies. To be honest, Jack did most of the rolling and cutting out himself. He was so proud of himself, as was I! I love finding a little time in our day to do something just the two of us...

A Day at the Zoo

Last Tuesday we woke up to beautiful weather- sunny and clear after days and days of gray...It was such a welcome change that I decided we had to take advantage and get outside. Goodbye to-do list (you'll always be there tomorrow!) and hello zoo. We spent the morning looking at animals, took a ride on the train and carousel, grabbed some lunch, and finished up by playing on the zoo play structure. We all had a great time- here are some pictures of our fun:

First stop- the flamingos

Of course, we had to snap a picture of Jack in front of the "outback cabin" sporting his name.

Cute kangaroo!

It often seems that the lions and tigers are sleeping (and therefore out of view). This must have been our lucky day- in both exhibits the animals were awake and playing front and center.

We brought our own little monkey!

Jack loves the giraffes
