Thanksgiving

It was our turn to join Evan's family for Thanksgiving this year and we had a great time celebrating with them. It was especially fun for us to watch Jack really enjoy the opportunity to play with his cousins. He is now old enough to be one of the kids and he loved it! Here are a few pictures from our day:

Miles tries out his new crawling skills. He found the hardwood floors to be a bit of a challenging (slippery!) place to practice...but it was fun to watch!

Jack joins Jon and Christa at the playdough table. Nana had picked up new playdough for the grandkids and it kept them busy for a very long time.

Miles sits up at the table for his first Thanksgiving!

But, he didn't last long...

Thanks Kathy and Dennis for hosting- we had a great time!

Never fear...Jack the firefighter is here!

Our Weekend in Monterey

We took the boys to Monterey a few weekends ago...I'm a little behind in posting these pictures, but better late than never! The four of us had a great get-away- it was really nice to spend the whole weekend as a family without any of the usual chores and distractions of a weekend at home. Evan took Friday off and after taking the boys out to lunch we hopped on I-5 and started the drive. Lucky for us, the boys snoozed almost the entire way down. Once we arrived we played at the beach and then headed to the wharf for dinner.

We chose to stay at the Best Western in Monterey so that we could walk right outside to the beach from our hotel. It was perfect for our sand-loving boys.

Saturday we headed to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We had taken Jack here once before when he was about 15 months old...it was a disaster! All he wanted to do, was get out of the stroller and RUN. By the time we decided to take a lunch break and re-group we were both sweating. We decided to call it a day and try again when he was a little older.
Luckily, Jack was at a much better age to enjoy the aquarium this time around! He had fun checking out the otters and sharks and even got to see the penguins being fed. Miles was happy to check it all out from the stroller.

Sunday we took the boys out to breakfast in Carmel and then started the drive home which wasn't quite as smooth as the trip down. The DVD player stopped working about 30 minutes into the drive and we stopped 3 times to nurse Miles and change diapers...needless to say, we were all happy when we finally pulled into our driveway! But, it was still a really nice get-away and we're looking forward to more weekend trips with the boys!

Trick-or-treat!

Halloween was lots of fun for the boys (and mom and dad too!). We enjoyed all the usual festivities- carving jack-o-lanterns, trick-or-treating with our neighborhood friends, and of course- enjoying the loot at the end of the night!

Can you believe my mom is making me wear this crazy pumpkin hat?

Miles and Jack show off their jack-o-lantern. Jack is also "entertaining" us with a very loud rendition of the ABC song.

Our friend Riley came over for dinner with her mom and dad and then we got ready to trick or treat with all the kids on our court! Riley is a ladybug, Miles is a lion, and Jack is a construction worker.

Jack is opening wide for some CANDY!
