5 Good Things About This Weekend

1) This boy played his best t-ball game of the season: a double play, an out at first base, and three hits off the coach's pitch (no more tee needed, thank you very much). He was awarded the game ball and grinned all the way home.

2) Evan tested all of the sprinklers in our yard...and they ALL work. Perfectly. The boys assisted by running around the yard and getting soaking wet. They loved it.

3) We mastered tag-team parenting this weekend. I took the boys out both mornings so that Evan could take it easy (Saturday) and power through a ton of yard work (Sunday). He took the boys in the afternoon so that I could catch a nap. I've had a few interrupted nights this week (the boys have had random nightmares, bloody noses, asthma, etc.) and I was beat. There is nothing better than a nap on a Sunday afternoon.

4) At our Sunday morning trip to the park, Jack was determined to master the monkey bars. For over an hour he tried and tried. There were quite a few falls but he stuck with it. And at the end, he sailed across over and over again. We celebrated with an ice cream cone.

5) We wrapped up the weekend with Chinese food. It was delish. And the kids ate every scrap of everything we ordered: pork buns, edamame, fried rice, generals chicken, and chow mein. Yum.

Touch a Truck Day At Wills Park

Today our town held their annual Touch a Truck Day at the park a few minutes down the road from our house. It was a little boy's dream come true! Every kind of truck imaginable ready for little boys to look at, climb on, and even pretend to drive.  To top it off, there were bounce houses and slides, face painting, ice cream, etc. Our boys absolutely loved it.

Jack gives the police motorcycle a try
In the back of the ambulance
Posing in front of the fire truck (the tire is taller than Miles!)
 Driving the school bus
Now Miles takes us to school
 Time to collect the garbage!
Miles makes a good garbage man too
This one was probably their favorite
A construction company had this tire swing attached to the top of a crane. Check out Jack's grin!
 Mr. Brave
 He loved it!
 Concrete mixer
 A big rig tow truck

Then it was time for this slide. It was huge. Jack went on by himself, but I thought Miles and I should go together. I thought it was kind of scary! But, Miles LOVED it :)

Taking It Easy

When three out of four Hamiltons are a little under the weather (surprisingly enough, Jack is the last man standing in the health department) and the weather is unseasonably cold and windy you have the perfect excuse for hanging out around the house and taking it easy. Fortunately, the boys have done a good job keeping themselves, and each other, entertained. An upside of the move has been the closeness we see between Jack and Miles. They have really depended on each other over the last 2 months and it shows.

We decided not to enroll Jack in a new preschool here (we just felt like it was a lot of transition for what would amount to about 8 weeks of school). Instead, I've been working with him at home a little bit most days. Today he wrote a thank you note to Grammy and Pop-Pop.

Fort building is the activity of choice these days and I am happy to let them have at it (although this means you have to sit on the floor if you want to watch TV or read- all couch cushions are generally being used for spaceship or clubhouse construction!)

We did venture outside (to the driveway) yesterday afternoon for a little while to vacuum out the van. The boys hopped in the front and were off on an African safari. Their dialogue was hysterical! They love to pretend together.

We have been watching a few movies too. Our friends like to join us.
